Jesus has the power not only to heal the sick, but also to forgive sins: He has come to heal the whole man - body and soul. The Church has received this charge from the Lord and strives to carry it out by taking care of the sick as well as by accompanying them with her prayer of intercession.This sacrament is one of strengthening, peace, and courage to overcome the difficulties that go with the condition of serious illnesses, the frailty of old age, to those awaiting the event of a serious operation, and it may be given to those who are at the point of departing this life. It unites the sick person to the passion of Christ for his own good and that of the whole Church. The Sacrament of Anointing may be combined with the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Holy Communion.

A PRAYER FOR HEALING
Cover me with your blessing, Lord Jesus as I place my trust in You. Let your gentlle, compassionate love flow through me and bring healing where I am most in need. Be near me when I feel frightened and woried. I know I can bear all things in You who strengthen me. Help me to remember your great promise to all who believe in You, "I am with you always." Thank you for life itself and for all the love I have known. Bless all those who give me special care. Amen
