This organization is an international Catholic organization of lay persons, founded in 1833 by Frederic Ozanam and his companions. Placed under the patronage of St. Vincent dePaul, the society derives its inspiration from his thinking and work. It seeks, in a spirit of justice and charity and by person-to-person involvement of its members, to help those who are in need. The Conference of the St. Vincent dePaul Society works hand-in-hand with the Christian Service Commission in reaching out to those in need. Activities/Projects: Food drive for Thanksgiving Baskets, Christmas Baskets, Giving Tree (which provides for the "want lists" of various charitable agencies at Christmas time), monetary donations to places that request them. New members are most welcome in both organizations. If interested, just call the Parish Office at (586) 751-3340. |
