      Jan-2012
Hello, my name is Eric Sorenson, and I will be serving here as your permanent deacon in the St. Louise community. I was ordained October 7, 2006 by Cardinal Maida. My fist assignment was to St. Clement Parish in Center Line. I served there for these past five years.
Before starting this new assignment, I would like to tell you a bit about myself. I have been married to my wife, Rita, for over 32 years. We have three adult children, Steve, 31, Karen 28, and Nicole 26. rita and I got married in 1979. After Steve's birth, job opportunities allowed for us to move back to Michigan, closer to her parents, who live here in the Warren area. We became parishioners at St. Thecia Church in Clinton Township. Together we share in doing jail ministry at Macomb County Correction Center.
In my previous life, as I like to joke, before the Lord called me to ministry, I worked as a supplier to the auto industry. As manager of an industrial controls company, we supplied equipment all over the world. During this time I was drawn to serve the Lord's needy, but was unable to find the time. After our merger with Stanley Works, our company reorganized, I was soon unemployed. So, I always warn people to be careful what they pray for, they just might get it! This redirection allowed me the opportunity to go to work at St. Thecla as a pastoral associate. And during those six years, I was blessed to hear and answer the Lord's call to the diaconate. By God's blessing, I completed my Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in May, 2006 and was ordained that October. And now that the Lord has led me here, it will be a great pleasure to meet and serve with each of you.

I thank you for this opportunity
Deacon Eric
